Colonel Luke Drury was born in Grafton, Massachusetts, on March 11, 1737, the son of Thomas Drury and Sarah Clarke. He served in the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. On July 26, 1759, Drury married Lydia Sherman (1736-1793), with whom he had nine children: Luke (b. 1759), John (1761-1823), Lydia (b. 1763), Mary (b. 1765), Ephraim (b. 1768), Aldon (b. 1770), Austin (b. 1773), Lucy (b. 1775), and Thomas (b. 1779).
